Something needs to go underneath the liner of your pool to make transitions easy and to soften the blow of the footfall on the liner. Sand has been the traditional substance but wood fibers, vermiculite and other substances have been used. Sand has two inherent problems, first sand shifts, created divots and rivulets that become impossible to clean and sand is abrasive. They do use it in sand paper and it will wear away your liner eventually. Comfy Bottom and Cove alleviates these problems and insures a nice smooth even bottom, as well as being gentle on the tootsies.
